“Everybody dance now.” Three words that have commanded dancefloors on every continent for over three decades. C+C Music Factory’s “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now)” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1991, and the debut album sold five million copies. C+C Music Factory have earned 35 music industry awards, including five Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards, and two MTV Video Music Awards. In December 2016, Billboard named them the 44th-most successful dance act of all time.
C+C Music Factory is available to book through Poise Artists.
C+C Music Factory was the creation of New York producers Robert Clivillés and David Cole, two former club DJs who met at the Better Days nightclub in Manhattan in the late 1980s. Their first major production under the C+C name assembled rapper Freedom Williams and the powerhouse vocals of Martha Wash — whose voice became the legendary hook of “Gonna Make You Sweat.” The lead single peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and went on to sell over a million copies in America.
The album also reached No. 1 in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland.
Beyond their debut smash, C+C Music Factory delivered a string of iconic records: “Here We Go (Let’s Rock & Roll),” “Things That Make You Go Hmmm…,” “Just a Touch of Love,” and “Keep It Comin’ (Dance Till You Can’t Dance No More)” — building one of the most consistent run of dance hits of the era. As of 1995, C+C Music Factory had accumulated a total of seven number-one dance songs.
They also produced for major artists including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Aretha Franklin, and James Brown.
