Eduard Marian Ilie was born on 29 June 1986 in Romania.
He graduated from the George Enescu Music High School in Bucharest and studied at the Bucharest Conservatory. His career began as a behind-the-scenes producer — he co-wrote Romania’s Eurovision Song Contest 2006 entry “Tornerò” performed by Mihai Trăistariu, and produced major hits for Romanian group Akcent including “Stay with Me” and “That’s My Name.” His debut as an artist came in the summer of 2009 with a track built around a distinctive accordion hook from an Azerbaijani folk melody — and it changed his life completely.
“Stereo Love” was a number-one hit in Czech Republic, Finland, France, Ireland, Norway, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, and Sweden, and peaked within the top five in Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. At the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, it won Top Dance Song — the song entered the top-5 singles charts in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.
