Who Is LayZee? The Voice of Mr. President
Delroy Rennalls was born in Birmingham, England, from Jamaican parents. He came to Germany in the late 80s with his brother Errol. After building a reputation as a DJ in the clubs of Hannover and northern Germany — and winning the North German DJ Championships in Bremen — in 1994, Rennalls joined Mr. President, replacing rapper George Jones.
His brother Errol was already making waves as a songwriter, later writing Mousse T’s massive hit “Horny.”

Alongside vocalists T-Seven and Lady Danii, LayZee helped catapult Mr. President to international fame. Their debut album Up’n Away achieved notable success across Europe with hits like “Up’n Away” and “I’ll Follow the Sun.” But the breakthrough came in 1996. The single “Coco Jamboo” peaked at No. 8 on the UK charts and reached No. 21 on the US Billboard Hot 100, becoming a defining anthem of the 90s.
Further hits including “I Give You My Heart,” “4 on the Floor,” and “Jojo Action” kept Mr. President a fixture on European charts throughout the late 90s.
Since 2008, Rennalls has continued to tour across Europe and South America as LayZee, formerly of Mr. President. He has released solo singles and continues to perform the full Mr. President catalogue live, bringing the hits that defined the 90s to festival and nostalgia event audiences worldwide. In 2023, he took the stage at Germany’s “Sunshine Live – Die 90er Live on Stage” festival, delivering vibrant performances to thousands of fans.
